Considering the injury problems Kevin Durant has recently endured (and is still going through,) the KD 8’s are the most important shoe this line has put out since the initial KD release. Players get injured for any number of reasons. The NBA season is a long slog and often body parts wear down from so much use. However, fans don’t necessarily see things in that manner.
Sure, intellectually they understand that Durant’s injuries aren’t related to his shoes, but people start looking for reason after a while. Does it impact sales when a player goes down? After a while, sure, but more than sales it impacts the brand. The emotional attachment and pride connected to a product is diminished if that product is connected to failure. Human nature is weird in that way. Here’s to hoping that Durant and Nike can continue to flourish.
