Summertime is coming to an end, but fret not— the EBC Playoffs are underway as well as more dope sneaker releases this month. Check out the top 5 best releases this month.
5. EWING Athletics August Collection
Usually these lists are reserved for a single pair of sneakers in the appropriate slot, but when your company drops three dope shoes on the same day in the middle of the summertime, people are going to be salivating at the opportunity to buy at least one. Since its return to the sneaker market Ewing Athletics has gotten positive responses from sneaker heads and basketball fans alike. The three releases start with a Hornets- inspired remake of the low top Ewing Wrap, then a sky blue Ewing 33 Hi and (a personal favorite of mines) a Georgetown inspired Ewing Center in honor of Pat’s Alma Mater. All three are certified to be a staple in any sneaker head’s rotation or for those who need some new heat to rock as the back to school preparations begin. All three are set to release at select retailers August 15th.
4. Reebok Question “First Ballot”
We previewed these earlier in the summer, but theres no denying when something is the fresh. While these are not an original Question color way, it still encapsulates all of the character traits of AI. Reebok’s approach to the shoe. These first ballots give AI the popular vote with these questions as they are set to release this month on August 15th for $125.
3. Nike SB Dunk High “California”
The retro trend is here to stay and its even more prevalent as newer brands have started flipping classic original sneakers into an updated silhouettes of your favorites. Nike tested the retro waters earlier this year with the release of their collaboration with street wear brand Diamond Supply for their Tiffany SB Dunk High. As the old saying goes, if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it. This is exactly what the folks at Nike SB did with the High California. The original Nike SB low “California” was exclusively released in California (hence the birth of the name.) Luckily for those of us who live in the other 49 states. we legitimately have a shot of buying these without a $3000 plane ticket or paying resell prices which is the cheaper of the two. The California national flag inspired dunk was a success and if the Tiffany dunk release was a precursor of things to come, don’t sleep as these will be gone just as fast. With a release date of August 26th and retail of $120.
2. Air Jordan 6 Retro “Sport Blue”
The sport blue color way has been big for the Air Jordan brand. While it it is also going to arrive in the AJ 3 silhouette, that in fact is not the best rendition of the sport blue color way. It in fact looks best on the silhouette of the Air Jordan 6, maybe in part because the AJ 3 version looks like a hybrid cement/ true blue or more to the fact that the AJ 6 sport blue looks just as good as it did when it first debuted. The cocaine white upper silhouette is complemented with the daring sport blue which may not be as bold as the infared color way, but is just as good as its predecessor. These retro’s release at Jordan Brand retailers for $170 on August 30th.
1. Nike Air Foamposite “Black Suede”
Sometimes it’s good to reinvent yourself, The folks over at the Nike facilities in charge of development probably figured there was only so much they could do to foams before tarnishiahinr the sneaker legacy of the Foamposites. With this All black nubuck Foamposite receive the murdered out black color way. It is made from premium materials that give the show its classic silhouette feel with one color way and not extra eye sores on this classic model.
