Newark Takes the Chip across the waters
Primetime The Runner ups from last year set their eyes on the sparrow once again and this year they did it with the boys from Newark, New Jersey. Primetime coach James Ryan decided a few years ago to recruit a young hungry coach he met from Newark, NJ to recruit his new team of players from across the waters. He was realizing that the talent pool from New York was becoming watered down, spread out and no loyalty to winning. He also felt that the New York Players were about offense, show boating and No Defense. And all good coaches know that Defense wins games.
Newark is about playing hard Dee and they are not afraid to get in there and rough it up. Throughout the game The defending Champs Ooh Way lead the game almost all night until the last quarter where Primetime finally got the lead.but only for a few. Ooh Way were starting to look as if they would take control and stay with a double figure lead. With less the 3 minutes left and Primetime down 8 points Coach Elijah calls a time out to take his scoring team out and put his defensive team in. With a defenseive team they knew they would still need some scorers in once they get a stop and come back down court. So they managed to leave 2 scorers in knowing that those 2 players wouldnt add to the defensive power but would add points. With the final minute the score seesawed back and forth with several lead changes. With the final 20 seconds and Ooh Way down 1 point, ooh way comes down and with the hard Defense of Primetime loses the ball and Primetime manages to hold on to win the game by 1.
In the same similiar fashion last year the score seesawed back and forth in the final minute with Ooh Way up by 1 and Primetime coming down to shoot the last shot to only miss and loss by 1. It was a great game and Ooh Way lost the opportunity to break the record of 2 undefeated seasons which was never won by any team in EBC history.
Newark, Nj has the crown until next year and are talking about having a Primetime Jersey and Primetime New York team next year. we will see how they do! Until Next summer… Well until December 2015 we do get a chance to see this Primetime team again when New York, Newark, Chicago and Los Angeles will being bringing their best teams to the Prudential Center for a 2 game event and 3 performances with the 2 winners continuing on to Toronto Canada NBA All-star weekend for EBC Allstar Weekend.
